Hello fellow Opponauts!!
You’re probably wondering what is going on here as you saw the title, “Hot Wheel Exchange” and thought to yourself…”what’s that?” The exchange is exactly how it sounds, a car for a car! Or two cars for two cars….you get the idea. This idea is very simple and just for fun.
Like many of you, I have a lot of Hot Wheels and sometimes find myself with doubles, cars I just don’t care for anymore, or even just run out of room. I would rather see my extra car go to a person who wants it than to let it sit in a case. The idea is to trade your unwanted car for one that you do want for free..kinda. Both parties are paying to ship their own car so it only costs a few dollars.
Now, I know you are thinking a few things at this point:
”Gee, I ONLY have 6000 cars at the moment and definitely don’t need any more” - YOU ARE WRONG….MOOAARRR!!
“What kind of cars can we trade?” – Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, ect. Good cars, no junk! Cars in cases or lose are equally fine. It is up to you to determine what is fair.
“This sounds expensive.” – Not true, you should be able to mail a single car across the US for no more than $4
“..But $4 is more than a new Hot Wheel?!” - Yes but this is for fun and try to get some really cool cars from some really cool people and have some really cool stories.
“How does this work?” – This works based on trust first and foremost! A person will post a car up for grabs and somebody else will make a trade offer with a picture. A trade is agreed upon and each party pays to ship their own car to the recipient based upon a GENTLEMANS AGREEMENT.
“What is a GENTLEMANS AGREEMENT?” - This is your word, your bond, your handshake, your character. If you don’t have or keep any of these than you should avoid this thread. This is trust that you will actually send the trade agreed. If you break this trust you will be subject to Oppositelock ridicule!
“Ok cool, tell me more about how this works!” – See below
Example: I will use the names Jimmy and Sampson for this
-Sampson takes a good picture of a car and posts it up for grabs with a description to this thread
-Jimmy likes it and posts a good picture of his trade offer as a reply
-Sampson accepts the trade offer and posts a way for Jimmy to contact him either by text, email, smoke signals, or however he feels sufficient.
-Jimmy then confirms the contact method by simply posting after Sampson and contacts him by desired method.
-Contact information is then exchanged and the GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT is then made
-Sampson deletes/dismisses his previous post with personal info and awaits Jimmy to contact him.
-Sampson and Jimmy then each go and buy eye drops from making smoke signals
-Both Jimmy and Sampson ship their cars
-Upon delivery both Sampson and Jimmy restrain attacking the UPS guy and then violently tear open packages and make car noises while admiring their new rides!!
Sounds easy enough right? It is!
The important things are to be honest and clear upfront about what you have to trade. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. You also want to make sure you dismiss your contact information as soon as you can to avoid spammers and stuff. Since we are unable to personal message each other this example method is the best we have.
Finally, to avoid a bunch of posts to the main page we will use this single thread for all trade offers. I will try to repost every couple weeks or so to see how it goes. Simply search “Hot Wheels exchange” and you will see this thread.
In closing, we think this is a cool idea to just have fun with. Be honest, be fair, and trade cool cars! This is a family on here so let’s keep it that way!

But I really do need 5 of each car?!
My Wife thinks differently but I really do. I get one to play with and so will my Son. Two to keep for ever and one to mod if need be.
Except my Treasure Hunts. Those will never be touched.
Great idea though. I am personally looking for all the Ferraris I can.

Ok, to start this off I have a 1936 Cord up for grabs. This is 1999 first edition vintage. Great condition with no chips on it and rolls great! I would entertain trades for Porsches, Lambos, Rx7s, whatever. Show me what you have!

Sign me up! I have maybe 400-500 Hot Wheels in mint or opened condition, plus several 1:18 cars including my slowly-growing collection of M2 Machines. I'm willing to part with them now that I have an actual car to spend money on.
This was from last year, it's gotten bigger. Those two containers? Un-opened 1:64th diecasts from JL to HW.

I'm actually looking to make a big bulk purchase of hot wheels/matchbox cars. They don't need to be new or in box. I want them for my son to be able to play with once he's old enough (only 9 months).
Sob story time:
When I was 12 we moved houses, the moving company STOLE all my cars. Giant container with hundreds of cars. These weren't just my cars. My dad had handed down to me HIS cars from when he was a kid, so cars from the early to mid 60s as well. Basically, really cool stuff. It was tragic.
The idea is now that I have a son to start building a collection so I can hook him up once he can start playing with them. Knowing all about this the day he was born my parents, now grandparents for the first time, bought him his first 3 pack of hot wheels.
If anyone has a large bulk/lot they are willing to sell for not too expensive let me know. I want usable cars for him to play with though, don't offer up the pristine need to stay in box cars, these are going to be USED.

ALL YOUR RALLY CARS ARE BELONG TO MEEEEEE!
So I'm not currently home and therefore can't do photos at the moment but I've got a hundred or so old Hot Wheels I'd be willing to part with, in mixed condition with very few still packaged. But for the moment I can at least put what I'm looking for out there. These days I'm collecting rally cars and off road trucks (what a shock!). At some point I plan to put them all in a fancy pants rally scene.
As an added note if anyone else is looking for something in particular let me know and I'll see if I have it. Most of my collection is from the 90s/early 2000s. Also I sometimes come across sales of old Hot Wheels/Matchbox at various shows and events. My pictured Escort, for example, is 20 years old but I bought it this year still packaged. If anyone wants me to be on the lookout for something I'll keep my eyes open.

I might have what you're looking for. I have two Hot Wheels rolling cases (like those rolling backpacks but made out of blue plastic) nearly filled to the brim with cars from the mid-90's to about 2003-4 (I started becoming a mint collector by then). I also have two dozen Nascars (90's to 00's) out of their packages if you want your son to have a rainbow of stockcars.

Haha, it's not really that big of a deal, I guess, just glad I can do something cool for a fellow opponaut :p
I just checked my box of duplicates and put together a small collection of 28 loose cars, including a 68 Nova, a 57 Chevy, a Citroën C4 rally car, a Formula 1 racer (the newest, most accurate one), Ferraris and Porsches, a 69 El Camino, a 70 Chevelle and its Charger counterpart, MkV Golf, Olds 442, Stunt Buggy, in short all the cool cars you'd see on a stunt driving game... Plus a mint on mint card 69 Super Bee Treasure Hunt, that you can either keep as his first Hunt, or trade it away for more cars, it should definitely attract some attention on eBay or collector meets.
I'll hit up the local post office for an appropriate box later and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get them going your way this Friday. Tomorrow I'll be a little busy, as I'll have a full time shift at the hospital from 7 to 7, but Friday I only got like one single two hours class in the morning.
Just a heads up though, two or three of the cars, including the 68 Nova, have had wheel swaps or other minor custom work done. They shouldn't pose any sort of safety hazard, since I make my customs to be as sturdy and close to the original factory cars as possible with no more than the addition of screws where the rivets used to be, but I'll pack them separately and let you be the judge.

That sounds really awesome man. I really appreciate it. I know it may not feel like that big of a deal to you, but it's a really nice thing done by someone that technically I don't really now. Thanks for sorting them out and I'll keep the Treasure Hunt one aside for him, it'll be the centerpiece of his collection.
Friday is definitely cool whenever you have the time. Hit me up on email and I'll get you the address.

I have plenty of 1:18s that I'd be interested in trading. They're unboxed but otherwise in excellent condition—I always preferred to display them on shelves out of their boxes, and most of the boxes have disappeared in various moves over the years. I'd particularly be looking for BMWs, specifically E30, E34, 840/850, or an E46 M3. If anyone has one of those they'd be willing to trade let me know and we can talk about what I could send your way!

If I may make a suggestion, I think the Hot Wheels trading post needs to be a 2-3 times per week thing. This thread is now buried, anyone who didn't see it will never know, anyone who posts cars for trade here likely won't get a response. Scheduled bi/tri-weekly trading posts will help maximize the number of participants and keep additions visible. I'm willing to run it if you don't have the time.

I am with you. I have been watching this thread to see the activity and while it is good, it has dropped a lot.

Also, how would I go about re-posting? I looked at the edit menu but wasn't sure it was the right place to do so.

I'd say just make a new post each time. Make a nice theme header like "Best of Oppo," have a brief stock welcoming intro and a link to the original trade post, then a photo of the "week's featured car for trade" or something like that

If anyone has the McLaren F1 GTR I would be willing to trade any of my cars or cash. I have lots of lose cars and a few in the box

Is it a lime green or a dark one? If dark I'll take that one, else the silver. Email me at s1msonite94@gmail. Just replace the "1" with an "a".
